The Operations Manager plays a crucial part in driving the success and growth of operations, through effective team leadership and strategic resource management.
Reporting to the Managing Director, the Operations Manager will oversee all aspects of the manufacturing process, ensuring production targets are met efficiently, safely and to the highest quality standards. The role requires strong leadership skills to drive continuous improvement, optimize workflows and manage a skilled production team. As Operations Manager you will work closely with our planning, quality, engineering and installation teams to help drive and achieve business growth in line with company strategy.
About The Role
Duties and Responsibilities
* Oversee the day-to-day operations of production, ensuring output meets quality and efficiency targets.
* Assist the Production Planner in implementing production schedules, ensuring on time delivery of products to customers.
* Manage, motivate and develop the production team to achieve performance and productivity goals.
* Implement and monitor KPIs to drive continuous improvement in manufacturing processes.
* Work closely with Engineering, Procurement, SHEQ and Quality teams to streamline operations.
* Monitor and manage drivers’ hours of service and compliance with relevant transport regulations.
* Develop and implement transport policies and procedures to improve operational efficiency and safety.
* Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and promote a culture of safety in the workplace.
* Identify opportunities for process improvements, cost reductions, and waste minimization.
* Manage budgets, resource allocation, and production planning to support business objectives.
* Foster a culture of innovation, problem-solving and teamwork.
* Work closely with HR to address employee relations issues, support performance management and ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.

Desired Criteria
* A degree or relevant qualification in Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related field
* Experience in the recycling or heavy machinery industry
Required Criteria
* At least 5 years experience in a production management role within a manufacturing or engineering environment
* Excellent leadership, problem solving and decision making skills
* Experience in lean manufacturing and quality control systems
* Strong knowledge of health and safety regulations
* Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
* Effective communication and stakeholder management skills
* Proficient in production planning software, ERP systems and Microsoft 365 applications
