Your role
You will be part of a dedicated team who provide a unique service in five Emergency Departments across Hampshire, which aims to support young people aged 11-25 who attend in crisis, whether that is through mental health crisis, violent crime, physical health or other needs.
As an Emergency Department Support Volunteer, you will volunteer alongside our Youth Workers and Lead Youth Workers, playing a crucial role as part of the team, by enhancing a child / young person’s experience whilst in hospital. This can be through engagement and social support, engaging with them and supporting them with activities, mental wellbeing and coping strategies, making refreshments, reading together, having a chat, playing games or even nail painting.
This role is based in Queen Alexandra Hospital in Portsmouth, typically 3-9 hours per week, Monday to Friday. We are happy to discuss the hours and day(s) with you depending on your availability.

* Resilience to cope with young people in crisis who often share difficult or distressing information
* Works well individually and within a team
