The Ophthalmology service spans all 4 sites of UHB and provides sight saving appointments and treatment covering a wide range of ophthalmic conditions. We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic band 6 nurse that has a passion for ophthalmic nursing. The successful candidate will be expected to work across all HGS sites. Main duties of the job You will work closely with the Senior Sister in leading the nursing team, deputising in their absence and having day to day responsibility for the smooth running of the units and providing clinical leadership to the nursing team. This includes dealing with ward referrals, telephone triage, facilitating the outpatient clinics, staff allocation and carrying out clinical work. You will be expected to lead the nursing team in line with the trust values and work with the wider multi-disciplinary teams to ensure safe service delivery. You will act as a mentor to the staff and students and will be involved in training and development for the whole team. You will undertake an extensive training programme in readiness of working autonomously. The candidate must be a NMC registered nurse with clinical and ophthalmology experience.
