Glaitness Nursery
Toothbrushing Supervisor
6 hours per week, Term Time
Temporary up to 4th July 2025
£27,861 - £28,170 pro rata / £14.44 - £14.60 per hour (including Distant Islands Allowance)
We are looking for positive and enthusiastic individuals to help deliver the Childsmile Toothbrushing Programme for children at Glaitness nursery.
We are looking to provide supervised toothbrushing on at least 4 days per week and would be willing to consider applications for fewer hours from anyone interested in helping deliver this important programme.
The post will involve organising and supervising children brushing their teeth as part of the NHS Orkney Childsmile Toothbrushing Programme. You will work on your own supervising children brushing their teeth, but you will have regular contact with the NHS Orkney Oral Health Team. While your role is not to brush children’s teeth you will be there to encourage the children to brush their teeth well and develop this important lifetime habit.
Appropriate and relevant experience of working with young children is essential and a basic knowledge / interest in oral health improvement would be an advantage.
The hours are worked around school timetables and breaks.
This post is subject to membership of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme in respect of regulated work with children.
Prospective applicants are invited to contact Karyn Tait, Oral Health Team Lead, NHS Orkney for further details at the Dental Department, The Balfour, Kirkwall, KW15 1NZ on 01856 888258 or karyn.tait@nhs.scot.
Closing Date: 23:59 on Sunday 9 February 2025
Please note that interview expenses are not payable for this post.
