Deputy Manager
Westbourne care home is a small residential care home in the heart of Hitchin, five minutes from the town centre. We pride ourselves on making a real difference to the lives of all the residents we care for.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Deputy Manager to join our team.
The position involves working two days supernumerary and two days on the floor leading the care team, administering medication, reviewing care plans. The two days supernumerary will involve updating care plans, completing audits, and other tasks to ensure our residents are safe and well cared for.
You will be leading a small care team from the front, maximising the quality of life for all our residents and maintaining the day-to-day efficiency of the home. You will hold an NVQ2/3, unpinned nurse qualification, or similar and have hands-on experience of working with older people. Attention to detail and good team skills are essential.
As a Deputy Manager, your role will include the following duties:
* Carry out needs and risk assessments and develop person-centred plans of care delivery.
* Shadow, supervise, instruct and support the care team.
* Support management as required in line with current business needs.
* Maintain clear, accurate, appropriate and up-to-date records, whether electronic or in other formats.
* Have due regard for the health and safety of themselves and others.
* Practice and promote effective, timely communication both within and outside the care home.
* Participate in staff development, supervision, training and performance appraisals.
* Comply with company policies and procedures as appropriate.
* Fulfil any other duties or carry out any other tasks as may be reasonably requested by management.

Responsibilities:
* Assist the Manager in overseeing the daily operations of the facility.
* Provide leadership and guidance to staff members.
* Develop and implement care plans for residents.
* Supervise and evaluate the performance of nursing staff.
* Ensure compliance with all regulatory guidelines and standards.
* Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive care to residents.
* Administer medications and treatments as needed.
* Coordinate and communicate with families regarding resident care.
Skills:
* Strong leadership abilities to effectively manage a team.
* Experience in senior care, including knowledge of assisted living, home care, and nursing home environments.
* Proficient in medication administration and able to follow proper protocols.
* Excellent organisational and time management skills.
* Ability to develop and implement care plans based on individual resident needs.
* Strong communication skills to effectively interact with residents, families, and healthcare professionals.
* Knowledge of regulatory guidelines and standards in senior care.
