This full-time position has an immediate start and will run for six months and is offered on a hybrid working basis, with three days in the office. As an Academic Finance Officer, you will be integral to the finance team with a good working knowledge of financial systems, providing support to the Finance Cluster Office and assisting staff and students with day-to-day financial management. In addition, you will assist with any other ad-hoc administrative duties. You will be personable and proactive, happy working as part of a team in a busy environment. Academic Finance Officer Key Responsibilities: Providing financial administrative support to the Senior Finance Officer to create and maintain expenditure and income controls and records throughout the Cluster. Preparing and providing financial updates and reports for meetings as required Checking and approving expense claims, purchase orders, amending and deleting purchase orders, raising invoices, progressing complex orders, payments and transfers, opening and closing accounts as requested Maintaining and developing Departmental finance records and databases, monitoring and maintaining accurate financial records to meet audit requirements Assisting with processing of bursaries Ensuring all financial transactions are carried out correctly, efficiently and in a timely manner and comply with university policies Resolving staff and student issues, providing advice on financial matters and escalating if necessary Academic Finance Officer Key Skills: Experience in financial administration, ideally in a higher education setting Good organisational skills and time management with the ability to prioritise workloads and meet deadlines Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to collaborate effectively with the finance team and other stakeholders. Strong numerical skills with attention to detail and accuracy Highly proficient IT skills - MS Office Suite, Excel and knowledge of electronic financial operating systems This position is ideal for someone who has exposure to general financial administration processes, has good administrative skills and with a proactive and peronable manner.
