Location: Tower of London, Hampton Court Palace, Kensington Palace, Kew Palace, as well as occasionally offsite within London.
Type of role: Casual
We are the independent charity that loves and looks after six of the most wonderful palaces in the world. The palaces are the setting for the stories that shape us all, and we’re bringing them to people in ways that mean more to them. We want everyone to find themselves in the spaces and stories we share.
Central to this ethos is the Community Partnerships Team who create inclusive, accessible and sustainable programmes for children, families, young people, and adults who live locally to our palaces and may experience barriers to accessing our sites and content. These barriers may be financial, physical, cognitive, or cultural.
We are looking to recruit a team of people to support the flourishing community programmes across our London palaces and to provide a warm welcome to a diverse range of people local to our palaces. You will help our visitors to learn about, discover, explore, share, and enjoy the stories of our palaces and gardens.
With your experience in supporting the delivery of activities for all ages and of delivering an excellent visitor experience, you will work across a range of activities to assist in the smooth running of Community events. This includes:
1. Welcoming visitors
2. Setting up & packing down learning spaces, including manual handling duties
3. Working alongside staff, volunteers, and external facilitators to deliver the activities
4. Occasional event management
For this, you’ll need to have exceptional organisational and people skills, as well as experience of health & safety and safeguarding issues. Knowledge and experience of working with diverse audiences is highly desirable. You’ll be visitor-focused, able to work well independently, and confident working with visitors, volunteers, and external facilitators/suppliers.
This role involves working with children and vulnerable adults; therefore, it may be subject to a DBS check at enhanced level. Safeguarding training will be provided.
Working patterns will vary but may include working half day, full day, evenings, weekends, and Bank Holidays.
If you think you have the enthusiasm, skills, and experience to join a team that delivers exceptional programmes, we would love to hear from you.
