Job Purpose
Please note: this position offers hybrid working and an electric company car, with the need to attend our various offices within Cadent’s Networks (including Ansty-based Headquarters).Interviews are to take place in May 2025.
As an OT Network Engineer within our IT team you will be accountable for the availability, reliability, and maintenance of OT systems to agreed Service Levels. You'll resolve problems, deliver maintenance plans, and support outsourced Service Providers' performance. As part of an on-call 24x7x365 rota, you'll maintain OT security and safety, ensuring adherence to Security Policies and SCO Procedures.
You'll manage incidents, changes, and requests, providing technical input to projects and ensuring technical suitability. Support documentation and standard operating procedures and uphold technical standards for related technology. Build relationships with product and platform managers, and support project delivery to time, cost, and specification.
Act as the key interface between projects and teams, managing Contractors and coordinating project integration. Provide regular status reports, manage finances, and ensure compliance with Cyber policies. Support new technology trials and audit activities, understanding Cadent's purpose, values, and priorities.
Key Responsibilities
This is a really varied role, working with our SecOps teams, you will:
- Be accountable for managing, maintaining, and delivering projects on OT systems, ensuring they are secure and resilient.
- Manage security issues with OT devices, developing hardening processes, and providing input into the maintenance plan for regular refreshes.
- Support the development, management, maintenance, and promotion of the OT Maintenance Roadmap and Asset Register to ensure lifecycle value and identify replacements.
- Manage incidents, changes, and risks on OT systems, ensuring efficient use of environments and cost-saving opportunities.
- Support EUC OT Specialists in managing the end-to-end OT services and monitor Contractor site activities for compliance with standards, manage commissioning and performance testing, and ensure accurate documentation for asset handover.
Skills and Experience
- Educated to degree level in engineering or similar, with experience in network engineering and ideally in a regulated environment such as utilities or finance.
- Proven track record in delivering engineering projects, preferably within the gas industry, with comprehensive knowledge of gas plant and systems.
- Strong understanding of risk management principles, HSE regulations (e.g., PSSR, COMAH, PSR), and engineering processes on operational gas sites.
- Excellent leadership, management, and communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain effective relationships across all stakeholder groups, including trade unions.
- In-depth knowledge of physical, personnel, and cyber security principles, as well as experience in supporting mission-critical systems in a 24x7x365 environment.
