Radiology Department Assistant - Band 2 (then Band 3 when trained in cannulation).
We are looking for a caring, enthusiastic and hard working person to join the Radiology Department. You will be working in the CT, MRI, Ultrasound and general areas assisting the Radiographers and the Royal Surrey and Community sites. Your role, as part of the team will be to help provide a smooth, efficient inpatient and outpatient service, ensuring that patients are cared for in a friendly, professional and timely manner.
You should have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work well within a team. After a settling in period, you will be offered the opportunity to complete a cannulation course allowing you to further progress in the department.
The Royal Surrey County Hospital is a progressive and collaborative hospital dedicated to patient care. We are a 570 bedded modern acute hospital situated in the historical city of Guildford. We form one of the four cancer units which make up the Surrey, West Sussex and Hampshire Cancer Network.
Main duties of the job
This is a patient focused role. You will assist both out-patients and in-patients during their time in the radiology department from transferring the patients to and from the departments, greeting them on arrival, assisting with their preparation for the examinations, including cannulation, and helping to provide a pleasant experience. You may be required to accompany in-patients during their wait for their examination to ensure that a safe and friendly environment is maintained.

This role provides support to the department in providing patient focused, efficient service in a caring, professional and timely manner.
The post holder will support the provision of a high quality diagnostic service to patients, visitors and staff within the Radiology Department. They will assist in the transfer of inpatients in the department. They will facilitate an efficient work flow between the scanners.
The post holder will provide an efficient and friendly service for patients undergoing Radiology examinations and provide any administrative support required, to ensure that the unit is running efficiently. They will assist with patient preparation and advise wards about anticipated In-Patient scan times. This post works closely and efficiently with the radiology team.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* GCSE(Grade A-C) or equivalent.
* NVQ level 2 or equivalent in healthcare.
Knowledge
* Experience of working within a busy team and managing time effectively.
* Experience of providing good customer service.
* Experience and knowledge of using computer software packages such as Word, Excel, Outlook.
* Experience of working in a caring role.
* Experience of working within a radiology department.
* Experience of communicating well with patients and relatives.
* Experience and knowledge of ordering and maintaining stock.
* Knowledge of patient privacy, dignity and confidentiality.
* Knowledge of infection control standards.

Salary: £24,873 to £26,958 a year per annum pro-rata - includes high cost area supplements (HCAS).
