Job overview
Undertake the provision of nursing care with support from senior colleagues within the Gynaecology Assessment Unit and ward 23 Gynaecology inpatient Ward. May develop the skills and competencies to perform additional skills. Will assist in the supervision of junior nursing staff and, where applicable, the teaching of learner nurses. Will be required to participate in the implementation of audit and quality initiatives. Acts in a manner that upholds the values of the Trust and that of the profession.
Main duties of the job
1. Assesses, plans, implements and evaluates nursing care to meet the needs of patients, supporting the Primary Nurse in the provision of care.
2. Provides first level registered nurse support to junior staff.
3. Contributes to the maintenance of a safe environment having due regard to legislative and ‘Trust’ requirements.
4. Assists in the teaching supervision of trained and untrained staff, including, where applicable, learner nurses.
5. Is required to carry out relevant tests on patients in accordance with Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust Policy and to register any additional skills acquired because of enhanced practice.
6. Provide support, supervision and assessment for all learners, students and staff receiving education or training in clinical practice.
7. To be aware and observe fully the employees under the Health & Safety at Work Act and to observe all the Trust’s policies relating to Health & safety and Risk Management.
8. To have responsibility for ensuring a commitment to maintaining a high quality of service to patients by continual development of practice in the light of research evidence and audit against clinically relevant standards.
