AWS Engineer

JBA are looking for an AWS engineer with a good understanding of the AWS ecosystem to join the Technology, Data and Software Development (TDSD) teams.
Our TDSD teams undertake specialist system, software and data development for the natural and built environment. We typically work with central government, environmental, transportation and utility organisations, and private companies. They work with us because of our reputation in providing innovative and novel solutions, and these often require highly resilient systems and processing vast amounts of data at scale.
Location:
This role is based in our Skipton office (BD23 3FD). JBA supports agile working which provides for greater flexibility with the way that we work.
Qualifications and experience
Key competencies required for the role:
We are looking for applicants with effective communication skills, who can work as part of a larger multi-disciplinary team and provide support to junior staff.
Self-motivation and a high degree of organisation are essential. The ability to deliver work on time and manage own workload are required.
A full UK driving would be beneficial.
The right candidate will have the experience and confidence to lead and support the AWS ecosystem for complex projects, typically working in multi-disciplinary teams. Also required is:
1. Significant commercial experience of designing, deploying and managing enterprise cloud environments.
2. Experience administering Windows and Linux environments.
3. Experience of containers and container orchestration (Docker, ECS, Kubernetes, EKS etc.)
4. Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools like Terraform or CloudFormation.
5. In-depth configuration management, automation and scripting using tools such as Python
6. Knowledge of platform and application automated deployment technologies like Puppet, Chef etc.
7. Exposure to iterative/agile development methodologies and experience of enabling team delivery through technology.
8. Ideally applicants will hold an AWS Associate Certification or higher, and or speciality certifications.
