Head of Governance and Safeguarding
Location: Hadleigh, Benfleet, Essex
Salary: £70,000 per annum
About the Role
We’re seeking a skilled professional to serve as the Head of Governance and Safeguarding. In this pivotal role, you will lead and manage governance and safeguarding policies and practices, ensuring our organisation maintains the highest standards of compliance, ethics, and safety for all stakeholders.
Responsibilities of the Head of Governance and Safeguarding
1. Develop, implement, and oversee governance and safeguarding frameworks to ensure legal, regulatory, and best practice compliance across all our care homes.
2. Ensure residents and key stakeholders are central to our approach to quality improvement and service review.
3. Write and update policies and procedures in line with new regulations and legal requirements.
4. Implement systems to assess, monitor, and improve the quality and safety of services, including risk mitigation related to health, safety, and welfare.
5. Provide expert guidance and training to staff and volunteers on safeguarding issues and governance protocols.
6. Manage external notifications and reporting, including updates to CQC, communication with Coroner/Inquest, and reporting to insurers.
7. Liaise with senior management team members.
8. Construct and share a monthly Quality report.
9. Promote evidence-based care practices and research within all care homes.
10. Monitor and liaise with support functions to address sub-standard performance, ensuring regulatory compliance and effective governance.
11. Drive continuous improvement and develop innovative care models.
12. Ensure organisational and operational objectives are met.
13. Support in managing complaints and responses.
14. Ensure attendance at mandatory and required training courses.
15. Perform other duties as required to meet the organisation's needs.
About You
* Proven experience in governance, safeguarding, or risk management, preferably in a similar sector.
* Experience at a senior level within an organisation, with familiarity in risk management.
* Strong understanding of safeguarding legislation, policies, and best practices.
* Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence at all levels.
* Excellent communication skills.
* A strong work ethic.
