At Leonardo, we have an exciting opportunity for a Principal Project Assurance Engineer, within our ECRS MK2 Radar Quality Assurance Team in Edinburgh.

The role will involve working with Operations, Project Managers, Customers, Design/Development teams, and Purchasing/Suppliers to satisfactorily meet our Customer requirements relating to the Products and Services provided by Leonardo UK.

What you'll do as a Principal Project Assurance Engineer:
1. Be an integral member of both the ECRS MK2 Radar Quality team and the Integrated Project Teams (IPT) and contribute to all aspects of Quality ensuring the success and completion of all allocated projects.
2. Maintain and deliver upon Project Assurance Plans (PAP) defining project assurance activities aligned to Risk, Opportunity and Improvement within the Programme, ensuring they are maintained as relevant in line with the changing project demands.
3. Be fully aware and engaged with the Operational and IPT risks and opportunities and support, and take leadership where appropriate driving progress.
4. Agree risk based internal assessments with the IPT lead and deliver these to completion including managing any findings to closure.
5. Analyse and communicate information to support the escalation and clear communication of IPT requirements to ensuring correct decision-making.
6. Take leadership, on behalf of the IPT, on all instances of Non Conformance and Failure and ensure situations are managed collectively to a dependable closure with the IPT Peer Group. This will be both internally within the business and with the external supply chain.
7. Provide Guidance to the Assurance Team in order to meet Programme and IPT objectives.
8. Contribute to the Assurance function's improvement plans across all phases of the Programme, Product and Project Lifecycle.
9. Provide reports and supporting data to the Project Assurance Manager, Quality Manager and Project Managers as required.
10. Support and mentor more junior members of the Assurance Team to grow quality excellence within both the Quality Assurance Team and the Project IPT.
What we need from you:
1. Ideally a Bachelor's Degree [or equivalent] in Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing or experience in Defence, Electronics or similarly "complex" industries.
2. Be able to demonstrate Governance, knowledge of AS9100 / ISO9001 and Continuous improvement.
3. Be able to demonstrate knowledge of Development and Design Assurance support to these stages of the lifecycle.
4. Be able to demonstrate knowledge in applying Quality Tools such as Root Cause Corrective Action, Pattern Fault Lifecycle, Process Mapping, Verification, Validation and First Article Inspection.
5. Be a logical thinker, capable of harvesting complex data into actions with practical solutions that supports business goals, in 'the language of the business'.
6. Have good interpersonal skills and a collaborative working style.
7. Have effective time management, including prioritisation and escalation.
8. Be able to demonstrate experience in working with numerous stakeholders.
9. Have demonstrated experience of working within high functioning quality teams.
