Building current account relationships is at the heart of our strategy. We have ambitious plans, and we are looking for somebody to help develop and implement plans and propositions, working closely with key stakeholders on a 12 month secondment.
This role is a key leadership role within the Current Accounts team, responsible for leading the Strategy, Acquisition and Engagement team. We are looking for a well-established leader with a thorough understanding of Current Accounts, to manage a strong team to deliver against an ambitious agenda that transforms our Current Account business, in line with our purpose.
This role sits within the Current Accounts team which is responsible for managing the E2E product experience, outcomes and commercial success. You’ll lead your team of multi-skilled product specialists and partner with all areas of the Society to achieve agreed product objectives.

The working hours (per week) for this role can be between 28 and 35.

What you'll be doing
* Responsible for designing, developing and making recommendations for the product strategy and direction, implementing new (and enhancing existing) propositions, products and services to balance member, commercial and risk considerations
* Ensuring your plans are insight led through a clear understanding of segment needs and both the internal/ external context
* Leading key projects across the Society and partner across the Society providing product expertise and helping to improve all aspects of the customer journey (e.g. marketing, sales, service, collections, complaints) to ensure we deliver good outcomes
* Monitoring performance: identify and prioritise activities to deliver key commercial objectives (e.g. new business, income, broadening & deepening memberships, cost efficiency)
* Working with the team to build a detailed knowledge of our policies, processes and procedures – ensuring that robust controls are in place to protect members and the Society. This includes establishing and monitoring an appropriate control environment, reporting and escalating situations where risk and control tolerances may not be achieved
* Providing effective team leadership, establishing development plans, managing performance. Ensuring the team operates at their full potential
* Creating an atmosphere of confidence and accountable freedom to deliver the solutions, developing and maintaining strategic, commercial and operational relationships.
About you
Playing such an important role within the team means as a minimum you’ll have or be:
* A well-established Senior Manager with a thorough understanding of Current Accounts or Mortgages or Credit Cards
* strong experience of Financial Services at a senior level
* A proven ability to create plans and strategies to deliver against business objectives
* The ability to nurture and lead a high performing team being conscious of how to adapt your approach to support individual styles and preferences
* Excellent communication skills, both verbally and in writing, and be able to clearly present information to senior executives in the Society as well as the wider team
* Impeccable stakeholder management and collaboration skills - building strong relationships with colleagues across the Society and using a range of influencing skills to help us reach positive outcomes
* Excellent business and commercial acumen, with experience of development comprehensive business cases
* A curious and inquisitive mind – with a passion to innovate
* Strong resilience and able to handle challenges and setbacks, being adaptable and able to work collaboratively to respond positively to gain consensus on the way forward
* Flexible and willing to turn your hand to a wide range of activities, which will frequently change given the diverse nature of the role
