Mechanical Fitter / Field Service Engineer

We are seeking experienced Mechanical Fitters and Field Service Engineers to join a well established company, covering a variety of sites and installations across Essex and surrounding regions. This role is ideal for candidates with a background in heavy engineering sectors, possessing strong knowledge and hands-on skills with rotating equipment.
Day to Day of the role:
* Conduct mechanical repairs and maintenance on rotating equipment such as turbines, pumps, gearboxes, conveyors, and valves.
* Utilise measuring equipment like micrometres, DTIs, and alignment tools proficiently.
* Complete workshop and field service activities, including reporting on findings, condition assessments, and recommendations.
* Communicate technical information effectively both verbally and in writing to peers and customers.
* Diagnose and fault-find on mechanical equipment related to heavy engineering sectors.
* Perform defect repairs and routine maintenance to meet manufacturer standards and legislative requirements.
* Work independently to identify and resolve mechanical system faults.
* Assist and lead on planned projects and outages as required.
* Manage work schedule effectively to ensure timely completion of tasks.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
* Full driving licence, preferably clean.
* Self-motivated with the ability to work individually and as part of a team.
* Time-served mechanical qualifications to ONC & HNC, NVQ, or equivalent.
* Clear and concise communication skills.
* Experience in fault finding, repair, installation, and commissioning.
* Good customer service skills and a high level of fitness.
* Ability to pass security clearances.
* Flexible and positive attitude, with availability for call-outs and working away from home when necessary.
* Relevant knowledge and experience within heavy engineering sectors.
