This is an exciting opportunity if you are a Registered Social Worker, Nurse, Occupational Therapist or Speech & Language Therapist to join our Trust wide team. The successful candidate will work with the Trust MCA Lead Practitioner. This is a substantive post but a secondment could be offered.
The successful post holder will be qualified to degree level with significant post registration experience some of which must be working with adults at risk of harm or neglect including those with impaired capacity.
Candidates will be asked to discuss an unseen scenario, time will be allowed to prepare at interview.

Main duties of the job
The post holder will support the Trust MCA Lead Practitioner in updating and implementing policies and procedures and other clinical governance issues in line with the Trust's goals and relevant to the legislation of the Mental Capacity Act (2005), Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (2007) and revised Mental Capacity Act, including Liberty Protection Safeguards (2019).
The successful candidate will assist within the Single Point of Contact model for the management of DoLS applications/authorisations and produce reports for committees and senior groups within the Trust and other stakeholders. Provide guidance, advice and support to hospital staff in relation to their MCA DoLS and LPS commitments. The post holder will work closely with the Learning Disability Liaison Team. The post holder will proactively contribute to training particularly in relation to Mental Capacity and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards including mandatory training and the review of e-learning packages.
Job responsibilities
* To undertake a lead role in relation to Mental Capacity Act and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (MCA and DoLS) in collaboration with all departments to ensure the implementation of the standards across the Trust and working closely with partner agencies to ensure a co-ordinated approach which meets local and national targets.
* To manage the Trust's process for application and management of DoLS.
* To monitor progress of the Liberty Protection Safeguards (LPS) and contribute towards Trust implementation.
* To be responsible for ensuring the robust application and monitoring of DoLS across the Trust.
* To support and advise staff throughout the Trust in relation to the MCA, DoLS, Mental Capacity Assessments and Best Interest Decisions.
* To develop and support a body of expertise and skills in relation to the MCA and DoLS across the Trust.
* To proactively contribute to the management of complex cases across the Trust.
* To proactively contribute to training in relation to MCA and DoLS, including mandatory training and the review of all relevant training offers.
* Deputise for MCA/DoLS Lead in their absence as requested.
Person Specification
Qualifications & Education
Essential
* Professional from Health or Social Care e.g. Registered Nurse or Social Worker.
* Qualified to degree level in relevant subject or equivalent level of experience.
* Specialist Training or experience equivalent to Master's Level in related area.
* Teaching Qualification City & Guilds 730 / ENB 998 or evidence of relevant experience in the provision of training.
Desirable
* Post Graduate diploma in Education.
Knowledge & Experience
Essential
* Significant post registration experience some of which must be working with adults who are at risk of harm or neglect and including those with impaired capacity.
* Knowledge of and experience in adult safeguarding.
* Knowledge of current legislation and key documents in relevant safeguarding, Mental Capacity and Deprivation of Liberty issues.
* Effective organisation and time management skills.
* Experience of working with NHS services.
* Evidence of working across multiple agencies/multidisciplinary teams and organisations.

* Research or audit training and experience.
