Required from February 2025 Francis Barber Pupil Referral Unit has a vacancy for a dynamic Teacher in Charge of Performing Arts and Media/Creative Curriculum and another curriculum depending on expertise. The role will be based across both sites of the Francis Barber PRU (Tooting & Wandsworth). You will be delivering the Performing Arts and Media and teaching across both sites of the PRU to both KS3 and KS4 students (up to GCSE level). You will also line manager the Creative Curriculum team and another subject which plays to individual candidate’s strengths. In addition, you will also hold the role of Keyworker to a small group of students and will be responsible for monitoring their progress and well-being. You will be a flexible person, able to adapt to the needs of our pupils. There is scope for the successful candidate to build and develop the future of the subject. Francis Barber is a large, friendly and inclusive PRU that prides itself on helping the young people it works with to achieve their full potential. It is also a complex PRU, catering for a number of specific groups of young people. These include: pupils who have been permanently excluded, those who are dual registered, pupils who have recently moved into the area, and some who have not regularly attended school in the past. Many of the pupils have faced challenges in mainstream schools. Some continue to be challenging in the PRU, but there is a strong staff team helping the young people to manage their behaviour within a supportive and caring school-like environment. We value the individual strengths which pupils and staff can equally contribute to the development of positive and co-operative relationships. Within the school there is a strong, diverse staff team including mentors, keyworkers and clinical CAMHS practitioners and a social worker, who help our young people to manage their behaviour and emotions.
