A complex manufacturing business in Redditch is seeking a Senior Planner to play a crucial role in ensuring efficient production scheduling, MRP alignment, and backlog recovery planning. This is a key role within the SIOP process, working cross-functionally to optimize manufacturing flow and delivery performance.
Role Overview
The Senior Planner will be responsible for ensuring the Master Production Schedule and Material Requirements Planning are fully aligned and achievable, while proactively managing any arrears through actionable recovery plans. The role requires strong analytical skills, stakeholder management, and a structured approach to production planning within a high-complexity manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
* Ensure production plans align with capacity, material availability, and customer requirements.
* Monitor and adjust MRP to ensure accurate materials planning, minimizing shortages and excess inventory.
* Identify and implement practical recovery actions for any production delays or supply chain disruptions.
* Act as a key stakeholder in the SIOP process, driving cross-functional collaboration to optimize production flow.
* Develop and maintain detailed production schedules, ensuring optimal resource utilization and efficiency.
* Assess workload vs. capacity constraints, adjusting plans to maintain on-time delivery performance.
* Work closely with Operations, Supply Chain, and Commercial teams to ensure production plans support business objectives.
* Identify and drive planning process enhancements to improve operational efficiency and reduce lead times.
* Track key planning KPIs such as on-time delivery, backlog recovery, and inventory levels, taking corrective actions as needed.
Key Requirements
* Proven experience in production planning, master scheduling, or supply chain planning within a complex manufacturing environment.
* Strong working knowledge of MRP/ERP systems and Master Production Scheduling (MPS).
* Experience in capacity planning, arrears recovery, and SIOP processes.
* Analytical mindset with problem-solving skills to address production and supply chain challenges.
* Ability to work cross-functionally with Operations, Supply Chain, and Commercial teams.
* Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
* Proficiency in Excel and data analysis tools to support planning decisions.
