LENGTH OF WORK YEAR: 260 days PAY GRADE: Hourly
WAGE/HOUR STATUS: Non-Exempt SALARY RANGE: $19.20 Min $27.35 Max
PRIMARY PURPOSE:
The HVAC Technician is responsible for the overall operation and maintenance of all the district's HVAC refrigeration systems.
QUALIFICATIONS:
High School Graduate or GED required
Associates degree in HVAC preferred
Three years experience in HVAC
Experience in chill water systems and controls preferred
Refrigerant Recovery Certification
Able to read blueprints and schematics
Must have and maintain a valid driver's license and be insurable
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Supports chilled and hot water systems.
2. Responsible for the maintenance and operation of the HVAC systems, which include maintaining filters, coils, cooling towers, valves, and control systems for all district HVAC units.
3. Replace A/C units as they break down.
4. Reports any deviation from the normal operation of equipment to the HVAC Foreman.
5. Reports to the HVAC Foreman any chemicals or materials needed for the operation of all HVAC systems.
6. Responsible for successfully completing all work orders and submitting them to office staff and keeping logs of refrigerant used.
7. Performs all duties in a safe manner to avoid injury to oneself and/or others. Performs other related duties as assigned.
EQUIPMENT USED:
* Power tools (drill, saw, etc.), hand tools, pressure washer, district vehicle, high lifts, two-way radio, refrigerant recovery units

* Maintain emotional control under stress, frequent district travel, continuous walking, standing, heavy lifting and carrying, exposure to extreme weather conditions, exposure to electrical and chemical hazards, working in high places.
