This opportunity is based in London or Guildford and offers the successful candidate a real opportunity to work closely with various stakeholders and understand how the Inspection business arm of a large Engineering Insurance company operates. It will give you invaluable insight into what it takes to work in a fast paced role as part of a large well known corporation, as well as the skills and technical know-how you need to become a successful underwriter and technical specialist of the future. The Role Your main role is to support business targets in relation to Engineering Inspection products. You will be servicing Broker and Client accounts in particular with quoting and selling of new business, renewal retention, control of lapses and credit control queries ensuring you underwrite within defined parameters in a consistent and profitable manner. Underwriters are the first point of contact for all customers of the Engineering Division. To work as part of this successful and dynamic branch, you will be customer focussed and team oriented in order to deliver an excellent customer journey. Job Duties On a daily basis, you'll ensure customer satisfaction by building rapport and provide excellent service to external and internal customers and in the long term, ensure customer new business growth and retention you will: Build strong relationships with brokers, including attending virtual & face-to face meetings, negotiating effectively, and providing excellent customer service at all times Handle general customers' queries via the telephone and in writing within agreed service standards. Underwrite new business enquiries received by brokers, actively engage in prospecting activities to secure new business growth. Underwrite existing business and mid-term adjustments including analysis and compilation of data for referral. Negotiate within authority and referring where appropriate to maximise customer growth including persuading, influencing and convincing customers of the benefits of an opposed course of action. Calculate, negotiate and invite renewal terms in line with external and internal deadlines. Anticipate likely objections and build effective responses Work as part of a close-knit team Support the wider teams by being proactive, enthusiastic and by challenging yourself to go out of your comfort zone.
