Job Title: Fire Strategy Consultant
Location: Birmingham
Contract Type: Permanent, Monday-Friday
As a Fire Strategy Consultant within the Fire and Building Safety Department, you will be responsible for designing and developing fire strategies to ensure effective fire safety and prevention.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Support the company to maintain and obtain new business and external accreditation
2. Assist all Key Stakeholders in managing customer expectation and product ranges
3. Provide Internal and External training to non-technical experts
4. Produce fire strategy documents for existing buildings (table top and on site validation)
5. Produce fire safety management plans for existing buildings
6. Advise on fire safety measures at post occupation stages
7. Support the development of appropriate internal policies and procedures
8. Undertake Commercial, Industrial, Residential, and Complex Fire Risk Assessments (where required)
9. Provide fire safety advice commensurate with levels of competence
10. Maintain and provide CPD in line with Company requirements
11. Escalate appropriate risks and hazards in line with current policies and procedures
12. Follow current fire safety legislation and guidelines
13. Keep up to date with changes in company guidelines and policies
14. Work alongside key stakeholders and communicate effectively with clients and colleagues
15. Manage own diary; including requesting travel and accommodation as required
16. Travel to client sites or company properties where required
Additional Requirements:
1. Previous experience completing retrospective fire and design strategies
2. Appropriate formal fire safety or fire risk assessment qualification (L4+)
3. Experience in reviewing fire strategy and fire engineering designs
4. Strong Fire Safety and Risk Management experience
5. Strong understanding of external walls and compartmentation requirements
6. Experience with Residential and Commercial properties (where appropriate)
7. Excellent attention to detail
8. IT skills including Microsoft Office applications
9. Excellent written and verbal communication skills
10. Strong report writing skills
11. Excellent technical understanding of fire safety mitigation, risk profiles, and appropriate guidance documentation
12. Ability to prioritise and organise own and team workloads
