A new and exciting opportunity has arisen in the Global Corporate & Specialty department, within the GCS Surety Underwriting Team. We are actively recruiting for an Assistant Underwriter to be based in Norwich to support the growth ambitions of the department. This is a specialist team dealing with niche commercial products and full training and development will be provided. No previous experience of this class of business is required but any previous underwriting, financial analysis, or legal-based education would be an advantage. We are looking for a proactive and determined individual that can progress rapidly to become one of our future Senior Underwriters. A bit about the job: You will work as part of a team to assist in the delivery of an underwriting service and strategy, whilst operating within agreed guidelines. You will balance the need to support the wider team with a desire to build your own underwriting capability. Other responsibilities include: Support Underwriting Team by completing pre-Renewal / Quotation reviews and post sales administration. Provide ad-hoc support as required to ensure front line Underwriters are focused on winning business Provide excellent service levels within agreed SLA to ensure transactional level deadlines are met Provide regular reporting & MI to ensure the Manager can accurately assess performance against objectives Make progress towards achieving first Underwriting Licences to enable autonomous Underwriting of standard risks within authority Provide trading support by prospecting and pre-vetting new opportunities to provide Trading Underwriters with warm leads Skills & Experience Required: Experience of an underwriting discipline, financial analysis, or legal background (preferred) Excellent customer service provided through good knowledge of product range and supporting systems Good interpersonal skills and ability to work as a team member Computer literacy and a good knowledge of standard computer software Confident communicating to senior people within our customer’s organisations via email, telephone, and occasionally face to face What you’ll get for this role: Salary up to £26,000, depending on location, skills, experience, and qualifications Bonus opportunity - 6% of annual salary actual amount depends on your performance and Aviva’s.
