Job Overview The Trust is looking to appoint a Clinical Lead for Anaesthetics. This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic individual to work across organisational and professional boundaries, in collaboration with other members of multi-professional teams to ensure that the provision of Anaesthetic services within the locality is responsive to Trust requirements, is efficient and provides equity of service. Main duties of the job The position will provide an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual to enhance their personal development to provide clinical leadership to the Anaesthetic service. The successful candidate will ensure clinical effectiveness and productivity, providing specialist Anaesthetic advice across the Trust. Collaboration Accountability Respect Empowerment Support Detailed Job Description And Main Responsibilities In conjunction with the Matron and Operational Manager, to be jointly accountable for implementation of the Trust’s strategic and operational objectives within the allocated resources, with a focus on maintaining clinical quality, ensuring patient safety and improving patient experience. Jointly with the Matron and Operational Manager, to develop service development plans. To provide leadership to the speciality but also directly line manage Consultants and other medical staff within the speciality. To take overall responsibility for medical staffing, undertake timely reviews of job plans and professional development plans, ensure appraisals are conducted and monitor EWTD compliance and ongoing analysis of junior doctors. To facilitate and support effective management of junior doctors, ensure they have full compliance with the trust appointment, induction and diary card monitoring process. Take responsibility for managing performance/disciplinary issues with appropriate support, in adherence with Trust policies. To be a full and active member of the divisional Board and divisional governance by either direct attendance or delegation to a member of the medical team. To ensure there is high level of clinical engagement within the speciality, driving service improvement development taking into account GIRFT recommendations, Royal College advice and other guidance from relevant national bodies as well as benchmarking against local and national peers. To chair speciality business and governance meetings ensuring agendas cover all relevant areas of the performance management framework and quality agenda. To assist and deputise for the Divisional Medical Director/Deputy Divisional Medical Director at internal and system meetings as required. To be jointly accountable for speciality compliance with the Trust’s governance arrangements including audit, risk assessment, infection control, health and safety incidents and complaints To support and align job-plans to service-delivery and performance management of medical workforce on an ongoing basis. To ensure that mandatory training is completed in a timely fashion by the medical workforce in your area. To be responsible for medical workforce planning within the speciality including recruitment, reducing reliance on temporary staff and planning for current needs to maintain safe staffing levels, taking into account cross speciality requirements as described by the Divisional Medical Director/Deputy Divisional Medical Director. To support the DOMS/SOMs and Matrons with Workforce Planning for the future, by exploring the use of new roles such as the use of Physicians Associates, Advanced Nurse Practitioners etc. Further information regarding the role can be found within the job description.
