Communication/Marketing and PR Assistant
The purpose of this role is to support and assist in the implementation of the marketing and PR plan for University Hospitals Dorset NHS Charity to support the increase of donations and grants in line with the Fundraising strategy.
Specifically, the post holder's focus will be to work with and under the guidance of the Senior Communications Officer in the design, implementation and management of the charity's marketing and PR activity; supporting the delivery of effective marketing campaigns, ensuring the charity's website is up to date and relevant, creating content and updating social media channels, producing engaging copy, designing marketing materials and supporting with PR activity.

Main Duties of the Job
* To work as directed by the Senior Communications/Marketing and PR Officer, managing own workload relating to marketing and PR activity for the Charity.
* To at all times act as a role model, representing the vision and values of the Trust.
* To maintain effective working relationships with other members of the Fundraising Team, Communications Team, Finance and Business Intelligence Directorate, Clinical Management Teams, Fund Holders, and other Trust staff, actively responding to their needs and supporting them to raise and utilise charitable donations for the benefit of patients and staff.
Job Responsibilities
* To support and assist in the implementation of the marketing and PR plan for University Hospitals Dorset Charity and its sub-brands to support the income generation objectives as described in the Fundraising Strategy.
* Generate creative, engaging and well-written content for all digital communications including the charity website, social media accounts on Facebook, LinkedIn etc., and email marketing. With responsibility for the day-to-day editing and maintenance of all digital channels ensuring that content is regularly reviewed and updated and to provide reports on their performance.
* Support the production and creation of regular internal communications, ensuring all stakeholders including staff and volunteers are kept aware of fundraising news.
* Produce engaging relevant copy for communications, case studies and press releases and issue as required.
* Respond to media enquiries, redirecting them as appropriate and providing further information as necessary.
* Help maintain excellent relationships with media contacts to ensure maximisation of support for the Hospital Charity.
* Maintain a comprehensive photo library for the Charity Team.
* Monitor press coverage for the Charity Team with regard to charity support across our catchment area and report on this regularly.
* Produce professional marketing publicity, literature and materials, designing materials and liaising with external suppliers to obtain competitive quotes for design and print services.
* Ensure the branding for University Hospital Dorset NHS Charity and its sub-brands are consistent across all marketing collateral, promoting effective use of the Charity's identity both internally and externally.
* To create and develop marketing materials and communications in conjunction with the Senior Communications/Marketing and PR Officer and the wider fundraising team to support fundraising activity across all marketing streams.
* To liaise with the Trust's Film Production Officer to produce short films for promotional use.
* To arrange meetings and keep records of such, follow up actions and marketing and PR activity.
* Provide web and social media training where required.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* Education to diploma level, NVQ level 3 or equivalent qualifications or experience.
* Desirable: Degree in Marketing or similar.
Experience
* Demonstrable and relevant experience in regard to a marketing, PR or communications role.
* Designing marketing materials.
* Desirable: Experience of website CMS.
Technical Skills Competencies
* Experience of using a Mac with knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator).
* Good organisational skills with ability to juggle a number of tasks.
* Desirable: Ability to construct clear, grammatically correct letters, marketing copy, press releases and reports and to proofread for others.
Knowledge
* Demonstrable knowledge of marketing techniques and procedures.
* Demonstrable knowledge of public relations techniques.

* Good time management, ability to prioritise own workload and work to deadlines.
* Desirable: Good communicator; verbal and written.
