Equal consideration will be given to individuals with medical microbiology or joint Microbiology with infectious diseases Main duties of the job This post it to contribute to the delivery of an infection service to the patients of Royal Cornwall Hospitals' NHS Trust and the Cornwall and Isles of Scilly community working in partnership with other local trusts to deliver high quality healthcare services across the county. Serving a widespread local population, as well as thousands of visitors to Cornwall each year, poses several unique healthcare challenges. The Trust delivers acute medical and surgical services to a population of approximately 415,000 which more than doubles during the busy holiday periods and includes many international travelers. The post-holder will be expected to support infection services and multidisciplinary patient care to liaise in a timely manner with clinicians, hospital staff, medical microbiologists, laboratory staff, general practitioners and health protection consultants concerning the diagnosis and management of patients, control and prevention of infections including the provision of telephone advice. The post-holder will develop relationships with the staff in different clinical areas which may include attending multi-disciplinary team meetings and participating in other clinical or audit meetings as required.
