Consultant Psychiatrist in Intellectual Disability

Main Duties of the Job
We want a Consultant Psychiatrist who can:
* Deliver the highest quality of clinical care to our patients and carers.
* The post holder will be required to work in partnership at both strategic and operational levels with relevant and external stakeholders.
* The post holder will need to ensure that people who use services, carers, and advocates are treated with respect and dignity.
* Provide excellent clinical leadership and actively develop your team along with expert advice to our hospital and community specialists, managers, and directors on what is needed to deliver excellent care and future strategic directions.
* The Consultant has a continuing responsibility for the care of patients and for the proper functioning of the department. The consultant will liaise with General Practitioners, hospital and community specialists, and other agencies wherever relevant.

You will be receiving a £7,500 recruitment and retention premium, which will be paid over 3 years on top of your salary and a relocation package up to £8,000*

Applications are invited from registered medical practitioners, who have or are eligible for a CCT or an equivalent approved indicator of training and eligible for entry onto the Specialist Register within six months of the interview date.

Person SpecificationQualifications
* GMC Registration
* GMC Licence to Practice
* Medical Qualification
* MRC Psych or equivalent
* Specialist Register (Subspecialty)
* CCT
* Eligible for CCT within 6 months of the interview date
* Higher Degree
* Diploma
Experience
* Clinical expertise in specialty/sub specialty
* Appropriate training as defined by the relevant SAC of the Royal College of Psychiatrists
* Approved/eligible for approval for Section 12 of Mental Health Act
* Approved/eligible for approval for Approved Clinician status
* Broad range of experience across relevant settings
* Awareness of research methods and understanding of the application of research findings in service development
* Experience as a researcher. Publications in peer-reviewed articles and/or chapters/books. Supervision of research of others
