Principal Electrical Design EngineerManchesterFounded in 1965, our client is a UK wide firm with 2 principle office locations: Liverpool and Manchester. Their engineering expertise reaches across all sectors of the construction industry, providing pragmatic and practical design solutions to ensure our projects are spatially and operationally efficient. Our design process fully considers the installation and maintenance practicalities on site.Due to their continued growth into the residential sector, they are looking to recruit a Principal Electrical Engineer, ideally with residential experience, to lead an electrical team on technically-challenging projects.This role will be responsible for managing projects to deliver an excellent service to clients and assisting on the ongoing development and growth of the business as a whole, whilst providing sound technical, design, and contract management support. This role will report to the Manchester-based senior management.RESPONSIBILITIESContributes to the development and growth of the company by identifying new opportunities and potential areas for growth, and also maintaining and developing existing client relationshipsWorks with other Engineers to ensure quality and timely operation delivery for clientsCompiles specifications, drawings, and relevant contract documents, maintaining the required technical quality of work, ensuring that designs comply with the relevant codes, standards, regulations, and proceduresActs as the lead engineer and liaises with the client and external design team as necessary for the successful delivery of projectsProvides Electrical Building Services Engineering design to buildings and infrastructureIdentifies scope and scheduling changes in accordance with the change control process, maintaining planning and cost control on all scopeMonitors and takes responsibility for the profit and loss within the working teamCoordinates monthly financial reports, both internal management accounts and external applications for paymentDelivers small- to large-scale projects from concept designs through to completion, executing Building Services Engineering activities within the budget and schedule, whilst maintaining technical integrityNegotiates positive outcomes, resource planning, providing motivation and managementPromotes team building and supports the team through training and mentoringQUALIFICATIONSA relevant degree in Electrical Building Services Engineering, or equivalent qualification or sufficient suitable experienceAbility to demonstrate extensive experience in a wide range of technical areasSound level of knowledge at the principal engineer level and managing a teamDesirable experience in residential projectsAn appreciation of complementary specialisms such as acoustics, fire engineering, and computer modelling in the design of buildingsAssociate or student member of an appropriate professional body such as CIBSE, IETAchieved or working towards Chartered Engineer statusTechnical electrical knowledge and a thorough understanding of Building Services Engineering and interdisciplinary design through all stages of the design processResults-oriented approach with strong problem-solving, technical realisation, and coordination skillsExcellent interpersonal communication and presentation skills, both verbal and writtenComputer literacy which includes Autodesk Suite, ProDesign, lighting software, and Microsoft OfficeCurrent UK driving licenceIf you would be interested in a confidential chat regarding the role, do not hesitate to drop me an email on l.mcnamara2edenbrown.com.
