Consultant - General Adult Psychiatry -AUC-Rose Ward and Laurel Ward
South West London and St Georges Mental Health NHS Trust
The Trust is seeking a general adult consultant psychiatrist who will work across Rose Ward, an all-female adult acute ward and Laurel Ward, an all-male adult acute ward at Springfield Hospital. The caseload will be shared with a Multi-Professional Approved Clinician (MPAC) who also has expertise in working with people who have learning disabilities and/or are autistic. This is a new post.
Main duties of the job
This is an exciting opportunity for an energetic and dynamic consultant psychiatrist to join this friendly team. Rose Ward and Laurel Ward form part of the inpatient provision of the Trust's Acute and Urgent Care Service Line, which includes 8 acute adult wards and a PICU, based on 2 sites: Springfield Hospital in Tooting and Tolworth Hospital in Surbiton.
The Team offers training and education to a range of undergraduate and postgraduate students mainly from St George's University of London/South London Deanery and Kingston, Guildford, and Roehampton Universities.
There are opportunities for the post holder to conduct research, audit, or quality improvement initiatives for which support can be provided. The post holder is expected to participate fully in leadership and quality improvement initiatives.
Job responsibilities
The post-holder will provide medical leadership to Rose Ward and Laurel Ward. The Consultant will work closely with the Ward Managers to ensure a safe, efficient, and effective service that meets the Trust's Key Performance Indicators.
While individual clinicians within the team have responsibility for the clinical care they deliver, the consultant shares with the ward manager and other team members responsibility for ensuring the care delivered by the team is safe and of a good standard. This includes participating in systems of audit and clinical governance, working to resolve problems on their own initiative, and where necessary drawing any concerns they have been unable to resolve themselves to the attention of the ward manager and others.
