The opportunity
Trowers & Hamlins is ranked by The Lawyer as having one of the UK’s Top 15 Real Estate practices. Core to that is the preeminent work we do for private individuals, consortia, partnerships and banks in the sale, purchase, development, and funding of residential property in central London.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an ambitious and quality-driven lawyer to join our team specialising in this work. The team has the benefit of specialist support from colleagues in areas such as tax, planning, enfranchisement and construction, and works closely with commercial and corporate lawyers across the firm
What you will be doing
Clients are both UK and international, and include investors, developers, and financial institutions alike.
The new recruit will be expected to work on matters such as:
1. Acting in relation to all residential conveyancing matters including the sale, purchase and refinancing of leasehold, freehold and new build transactions, from on-boarding to post completion.
2. Dealing with the drafting of and negotiation of new leases, transfers and assured shorthold tenancy agreements.
3. Acting for landlord and tenants in relation to licences to assign, rent deposit deeds and licenses to alter.
4. Carrying out due diligence, drafting reports on title raising/dealing with enquiries, preparing contract packs and drafting any additional documents as may be required for a specific transaction.
5. Preparing certificates of title when dealing with financing transactions.
6. Assisting partners on complex deals
7. Supervision of a paralegal in the team.
8. Maintenance of matter and completion schedules.
In addition, you will be expected to:
9. Ensuring files are managed in compliance with Lexcel procedures
10. Participating in firm-wide and departmental training sessions
What you will need
The firm has a Career Development Framework which sets out the competencies we expect of those at each grade. In particular, for this role we require:
11. Qualified solicitor with 3-6 years PQE with relevant expertise in residential conveyancing
12. Excellent academic record and training
13. CQS certification
14. Experience working within stringent deadlines
15. Ability to work on numerous matters at one time
16. Strong focus on providing exceptional client care and services
17. Attention to detail
18. Initiative, drive and enthusiasm.
