Job summary 30 hours per week. MAIS supports adults with varying complexities of mental health difficulties, helping with their journey towards recovery, including personal development programmes, daily living activities, managing their own condition, use of leisure, training/adult education and work opportunities. The service delivers psycho-educational programmes and runs a Horticultural Therapy Service (CROP). The service delivers psycho-educational groups including anxiety management, assertiveness & mindful approaches to stress and depression. It also runs a Horticultural Therapy Service, works with Cornwall College in delivering horticultural and art courses & with Plymouth Argyle Community Trust delivering 'It's A Goal' (therapy group) and Equine assisted therapy. Other partnership working with community-based agencies is also pursued to meet clients personal recovery goals. Referrals to MAIS come from a variety of sources including primary & secondary care & outside agencies. Clients will be assessed for suitability & in order to identify individual goals & the best route(s) to achieving them. Clients also benefit from a 'whole team' approach & may move between the interventions offered as their needs change. This role may not be eligible for sponsorship under the Skilled Worker route. All staff are expected to be able and willing to work across a 7 day service Main duties of the job The post holder will work with the MAIS team mainly in community settings & at CROP (Horticultural Therapy Site) in supporting & delivering therapeutic interventions to assist clients in their recovery. This includes physical, educational, social & psychological interventions within a client centred approach. There is no strict time limit to people's engagement - it is needs led with changing & diverse requirements; excellent communication skills are essential, & the post holder will work in a way that forms supportive & therapeutic relationships with clients on a 1-1 or group basis. Use of IT for record keeping, communication, microsoft 365 & training is essential. The registered practitioners will carry responsibility for clinical decision making.The post holder will also be expected to have face to face contact and interventions without direct supervision of a Mental Health Practitioner & this may involve contact with relatives, carers & other agencies. Support workers within the team carry out interventions as part of any relevant goal plans & record information accordingly. Whilst this role will be involved in supporting the delivery of groups, the post holder will also be required to work with individuals in other settings, including their own home, community & when appropriate, cover for colleagues in supporting/delivering other group programmes which are part of the service provision.
