Glasgow Caledonian University's IT department is a central professional service department that provides IT services to all GCU campuses across the UK and beyond. The Information Technology department supports the University by delivering technology-based services for research, teaching and learning, to enable on and off-campus learning and engagement.
As a Senior Developer in the Corporate Applications section within the Information Services department, your primary responsibility will be to design, develop, and maintain software solutions that enhance the university's administrative and academic operations. You will play a crucial role in delivering high-quality, scalable, and secure applications that significantly improve the efficiency and effectiveness of services for students, faculty, and staff.
The successful candidate should possess strong technical expertise in C#, and .NET frameworks, alongside strong experience with SQL Server. A deep understanding of web development frameworks and database management is essential to develop robust applications and ensure seamless system integrations. Your proficiency in data management will be particularly important for consolidating various datasets into comprehensive SSRS and Power BI reports, ensuring that data-driven insights meet the university's needs.
An extensive understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), from gathering requirements and designing solutions to coding, testing, and deploying applications is required. You'll collaborate closely with stakeholders to ensure that each phase of the SDLC is executed effectively, resulting in robust, scalable applications that meet the evolving needs of the university.
Ideally, the candidate would have practical experience of System Modelling, and the ability to maintain a good working knowledge of existing and emerging legislation, regulations and industry technology standards. Educated to degree level and / or equivalent relevant software development lifecycle experience along with experience of people management is essential to ensure that the team are committed to customer satisfaction with every interaction.
