Permanent, flexible contract
25-42.5 hours per week
£12.44 per hour (applies to all, including those under the age of 21)
Are you looking for a fun and varied job in hospitality management? YHA York is looking for a Late and Nights Manager to support the Hostel Manager! YHA York is located a 30 minute walk from the city centre on the bank of the River Ouse. We are a dynamic and vibrant hostel, welcoming groups, families, and individuals from all walks of life. The Late and Night Duty Manager will hold responsibility for our Night team, taking lead on exciting new projects. The typical hours of work for this role will be 6pm-3am across the week, with some earlier shifts to ensure strong collaboration with the rest of the management team. We are open 24hrs a day, and our Late and Nights Duty Manager will be responsible for ensuring excellent customer care throughout the evenings and nights, managing our evening and nights team, ensuring our high standards are consistently maintained, and becoming the first port of call to address concerns and emergencies overnight. The Late and Nights Manager will spearhead the implementation of new projects, including the introduction of a new overnight food offering. The successful candidate will also ensure the support and training of the overnight team, as well as integration and connectivity across the hostel.
Initial training with our daytime team will be provided to give the successful candidate all the tools and knowledge needed to effectively perform the role.
As a Late and Night Manager, you’ll support the Hostel Manager with the day-to-day management of the hostel. You’ll create a great place for our teams to work and ensure our guests have a great experience in our hostels.

What will you be doing as a Night Manager?
We are a friendly team and will provide the training required for you to undertake the role. However, there is plenty for you to get stuck into from day one, including:
* Directing and supporting team members
* Resolving difficult situations and emergencies in a professional and efficient manner
* Ensuring the security of the hostel
* Ensuring regular hostel inspections are carried out
* Carrying out cleaning duties
* Preparing for breakfast service
What Skills and Experience do you need to be a Night Manager?
Our Night Managers are responsible for ensuring the quality of service is maintained throughout the night, delivering excellent service to all our guests and giving them a great experience with YHA.
To provide this service, we are looking for candidates who have:
* Experience in hospitality or customer service, including the management and delivery of a quality service
* Experience of managing a team – experience of leading others and providing guidance to team members (desirable)
* APLH level 2 qualifications and NVQ Level 3 within Customer Services, Hospitality, Tourism (desirable)
* Ability to manage varying pressures, including peaks in workload demands – can prioritise and deal with conflicting duties
* Basic IT skills (ideally Microsoft Office) – able to use Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel
* Knowledge and understanding of the core purpose of YHA – what YHA does and how we do it
