Job summary The post holder will provide managerial leadership to a team of passionate community-based Link Support Workers (LSWs) who support women and families throughout their maternity journey. This will include providing awareness around infant feeding, pelvic health, smoke-free pregnancy pathways, health and wellbeing advice and guidance and linking the woman to community outreach services to support with their needs. This role will develop, promote, and implement methods to communicate key health and wellbeing messages and develop interventions via community focus groups to ensure they are accessible and appropriate for the needs of the service users as well as raising the profile of the evolving Link Support Worker roles by working closely across the BSOL Family Hubs and with the community midwifery teams. The Maternity Link Support Manager will focus on supporting the LSWs, developing, promoting, and effectively maximising the reach of health and wellbeing messages and interventions within maternity services to improve better pregnancy outcomes across the Birmingham and Solihull (BSOL) where Birmingham Woman's & Children's Hospital and University Hospital's Birmingham are the providers in the Local Maternity and Neonatal System (LMNS). Main duties of the job The post holder will be part of the Birmingham and Solihull Local Maternity and Neonatal System (LMNS) - a team dedicated to assuring maternity and neonatal care, by implementing the recommendations of "The Three-Year Delivery Plan" and wider national guidance. A key component of the programme is to promote the implementation of interventions to achieve better outcomes against Saving Babies Lives (SBL) Care Bundle and Ockenden IEAs, the key focus of the post will be to address health inequalities and supporting women whose first language is not English, ensuring women can communication their concerns in pregnancy by building awareness of mental health, reduced fetal movement, 'Did not attend' (DNA) rates, pelvic health awareness and the importance of seeking timely help and being able to express their personal choices.
