QA Engineer (Web)
We’re ASOS. We blend our flair for fashion with our love of cutting-edge technology, but more importantly we’re interested in how we can bring the best out of you. We exist to give people the confidence to be whoever they want to be, and that goes for our people too. At ASOS, you’re free to be your true self without judgment, and channel your creativity into a platform used by millions.
You'll be working within the TopShop/TopMan Product Team at the heart of ASOS Technology. Our goal is to create the ultimate customer experience through inspiration, engagement and excitement in the fashion industry. We achieve our goals using cutting-edge technologies at scale to always be ahead of our customers’ expectations.
We work closely with Product Managers, our Analytics and UXUI teams to build the ultimate experience for our fashion-conscious 20-somethings.
We're looking for highly engaged and passionate engineers to join one of our Product Development Teams. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone looking to apply and enhance their skills in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, where no two days are ever the same.
What you’ll do
1. Use your testing experience and curiosity to prevent bugs as well as find them.
2. Reuse and create heuristics, models, and personas to help you test effectively in personal, paired, and mob sessions.
3. Build an understanding of not just what the product does, but how it works through exploration: the code it’s built from, its design, its architecture, and the wider domain.
4. Be our customer’s eyes and ears in the team, helping us to nudge and steer as required.
5. Understand and challenge the ‘why’ by collaborating with Product Managers, UXUI, Developers & other Business Stakeholders to understand if we’re building the right thing, the right way.
6. Test for all sorts of different risks, paying particular attention to Accessibility, Client-Side Performance, and Security, using tools such as AXE, Wave, SpeedCurve, Lighthouse, JMeter, and Taurus.
7. Use JavaScript and a myriad of libraries such as Jest, Puppeteer, Playwright, and Cypress to help you along the way.
8. Test efficiently by taking advantage of our Micro Services and Micro Frontend Architecture.
9. Curate test data and utilise test environments.
10. Use tools such as GIT, Postman, Saucelabs, and Applitools as well as the various Development Tooling built into Browsers.
11. Play a key role in helping the team decide if it’s time to ship.
12. Test in Production safely by using tools such as feature flags, staging slots, or experimentation with A/B and MVT.
13. Testing continues after we’ve launched to our customers, so you’ll help monitor and maintain our applications by analysing information from sources such as Adobe Analytics and NewRelic.
14. Share your experiences, knowledge, and expertise with other teams across ASOS Tech.
15. Improve your team’s Testing Strategy, understanding that it’s not something to follow without question.
16. Understand that everyone is responsible for quality and help your team contribute to that goal.
What you can expect from us
1. The freedom to make the role your own.
2. The support to learn the tools we use and an openness to using or creating new tools.
3. An opportunity to learn and grow your testing craft, with the support of a broad QA Community.
4. The opportunity to have a big influence on a shopping experience used by millions.
