Millar Cameron is working with Seed Global Health (Seed) to recruit a Senior Director of Policy. Seed is a non-profit organization that envisions a world where every country has a strong health workforce to meet its population’s needs. They partner to train nurses, midwives, and physicians, building skilled health teams that deliver high-quality care and save lives. Seed is dedicated to creating lasting change in the health systems of their partner countries: Malawi, Sierra Leone, Uganda, and Zambia. Role Overview:
The Senior Director of Policy at Seed Global Health will lead and shape the organization’s global health policy agenda, strategically aligning it with both country-level priorities and global health systems goals. Reporting to the CEO, this senior-level position focuses on advancing policy initiatives, strengthening advocacy efforts, and representing Seed at high-profile global forums. The role also requires managing policy-related research and collaborations while supporting cross-functional advocacy, communications, and programmatic development teams.
Key Responsibilities:
Policy Leadership & Strategy:
* Develop and drive Seed’s global health policy agenda, focusing on health systems strengthening (HSS), human resources for health (HRH), climate and health, and health financing.
* Shape and advance Seed’s influence through research, policy recommendations, and strategic campaigns.
Representation & Advocacy:
* Represent Seed at major global events (e.g., World Health Assembly, G20, COP) to advocate for investments in health workforce and systems.
* Act as a spokesperson and build partnerships with multilateral organizations, governments, NGOs, and donors.
Team leadership & Collaboration:
* Oversee the Regional Policy Director and four in-country policy officers to ensure cohesive alignment between global and country-level strategies.
* Collaborate with communications and advocacy teams to integrate policy messages into broader organizational initiatives.
Strategic Thought Leadership:
* Provide counsel to the CEO and contribute to thought leadership through written publications, media engagements, and social media advocacy.
* Align policy efforts with global priorities, engaging both health and non-health sectors to amplify health investments.
Qualification and experience needed for the role:
* MPA, MPH, and/or PhD preferred
* Passion and commitment to Seed’s mission
* Strong sense of accountability, personal initiative, and responsibility
* Excellent interpersonal skills, including flexibility and a sense of humor
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
* Experience writing for publication (articles, blogs, etc.)
* Demonstrated cross-cultural sensitivity and ability to build respectful relationships with colleagues from different cultural, linguistic, and educational backgrounds
* Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced work environment
* Experience in public policy analysis, formation, and advocacy
* Experience in external communications, written or visual including interviews, presentations, and remarks
* Knowledge of health systems development, economics of development, climate, agriculture, and water systems
* Familiarity with global health forums, multilateral organizations, and global health financing mechanisms
* Experience living/working in limited resourced environments for extended period of time
* Ability to travel internationally as needed
* Familiarity with Microsoft office applications
