Draig recruitment currently have an exciting new job role for a full-time Male Sports coach to support a male student in key stage 3 within an alternative provision, located in Wrexham. Duties will include sports coaching (in any chosen sport) and supporting the individual in the classroom with numeracy, literacy, and skills. You may also be asked to work in small groups for additional support in lessons.
The ideal applicant will have experience of working with children or young people with mental health difficulties and challenging behaviors. For the continuity for students, our client would require a sports coach who can fully commit to full-time hours to start in September. Applicants will also be required to have a full clean driving license and will be asked to take students to college, using the school’s own transportation.
This friendly and welcoming alternative provision and is a high-achieving school with glowing reports from a recent estyn inspection. Staff are fully dedicated to supporting students to re-engage in learning and to reach their full potential. Alternative provisions are for students who can't attend mainstream schools, usually relating to social, emotional, mental health and behaviour difficulties.
Hours of work Monday to Friday 8:30am-3:30pm. Pays a min of £70.51 p/d. This is a long-term position to start in September 2024 with a view to going permanent after 12 weeks.
To be considered for this role you will need:
• Experience working with children or young people
• Experience in an education setting, ideally in key stage 3 and 4
• Good knowledge and understanding of a range of mental health difficulties
• Have experience in sports such as football, rugby, cycling, martial arts
• A flexible, patient approach with a positive attitude
• Ability to de-escalate behaviour
