Lancashire County Council provide catering services to over 500 schools across Lancashire, serving over 60,000 school meals per day and we are looking for committed individuals to join the service You will work as part of a team covering part of the Ribble Valley, Burnley & Hyndburn providing high quality, healthy balanced meals for school children. Working Hours: Monday to Friday/Term Time only Hours are variable depending upon school meal uptake Responsibilities Assisting with the recruitment and selection of new staff, and managing probation periods Delivering employee induction and training programmes Conducting [lunch and critical] audits, developing action plans and providing feedback Conducting stock control activities Assisting operational managers in the delivery of the service, including deploying staff [Supporting] [Conducting] performance engagement sessions with catering teams Assisting operational managers in collating information. Providing administrative support to operational managers, including completing necessary documentation and keeping accurate records Maintaining specified standards of food and kitchen hygiene and health and safety at work Assisting in supporting marketing strategies to generate business growth Supporting customer care initiatives Ensuring safe use of catering equipment and machinery Providing cover for unit catering supervisors and catering assistants, including allocating tasks and supervising catering teams in delivering the service, and ordering supplies Supporting service delivery, as required, including cooking, and delivering a varied range of meals in accordance with recipes, menus, or production plans. In addition, other duties at the same level of responsibility may be interchanged with/added to this list at any time. Occasionally, the post holder may be required to work outside the immediate geographical area. What we are looking for: Recognised catering qualification and/or food hygiene certificate would be desirable. Experience of catering for large numbers is also desirable. Ability to work as part of a team Ability to work under pressure and use own initiative Good customer care skills Previous catering and food preparation experience would be desirable. Working hours & days: Term time only 30 hours per week Monday -Friday between 7.30am-1.30pm.
