This is an exciting opportunity to work as part of our “Outstanding Team” in the Children’s Community Nursing Team caring for children across Cambridgeshire.
We are looking for a Children’s Community Nurse to join our dynamic team, based out of The Oak Tree Centre, Huntingdon & The Peacock Centre, Cambridge. The team cover the whole of Cambridgeshire, providing a 7-day service, delivering quality care to make a difference to children & young people requiring nursing care in their homes or other community settings.
You must hold a RSCN qualification and will be responsible for delivering a high standard of nursing care, with excellent communication skills and be able to use your own initiative whilst also working well as a team player.
Main duties of the job
This role will give you the opportunity to assist with the development of Community Nursing within Cambridgeshire as well as develop your individual skills, supported to develop your expertise both within your Team and by regular reflection and professional training during the comprehensive induction period. The opportunity to progress to undertake the degree/masters level qualification in Community Children's Nursing will be encouraged and supported.
Due to the nature of the role it is essential that applicants are able to travel effectively and independently on a daily basis to and from the base, clients’ homes and other venues around the geographical area whilst transporting equipment.
Detailed job description and main responsibilities
1. Provide skilled paediatric nursing care to children and young people within their own home, school or nursery settings.
2. Ensure continuity of care is established and appropriate support available for children, young people and families.
3. Be responsible for planning and co-ordinating care, delivering and evaluating the care given to children and young people.
4. Liaise with other members of a multi-professional multi-agency team regarding clinical management of patients.
5. Ensure prescribed nursing care is carried out in line with local and national policies.
6. Competently deliver / advise on specialist evidence-based practice within the community setting.
7. Provide skilled, evidenced based, sensitive, comprehensive care to children and young people who require end of life care.
