You will be working for a world-leading transformation developer specialising in fully-funded turnkey infrastructure projects in sub-Saharan Africa. Thepany is looking for an experienced and proven Logistics Manager with international experience to handle all elements of international logistics across various projects. Some of these projects are in the stages of infancy and require a detailed logistics plan specific to that country followed by subsequent implementation. Other projects are already in operation and require end-to-end logistics management for the delivery of medical, nonmedical and construction equipment items through each step from departing the supplier to arrival in-country and onwards to the point of issue to the Installation &missioning team or delivery to the end user.Your new role
The International Logistics Manager shall manage the process and operation of all business functions once the cargo has departed the UK or from origin in other cases. You will be the liaison with in-country directors, staff and subcontractors, installation, andmissioning teams, as well as suppliers and any relevant third parties.In this role you will oversee and manage weekly logistics delivery forecasts for cots and performance, project budgets andmercial arrangements. You will be responsible for ensuring all goods are inspected upon arrival at site in order to ensure that they are as specified in both quality and quantity, manage stores receipts and issuing programmes in accordance with the installation programme and certify that all Shipping/Invoicing Paperwork is 100% accurate for goods delivered.The post holder will provide the Director of Purchasing, Logistics & Healthcare Technology and the Director & General Manager of the applicable countries along with UK-based Project teams with a full logistics service that meets the programme objectives.The position requires the successful candidate to travel internationally 5–6 times per year and be away for 2–6 weeks at a time. What you'll need to succeed
A clear understanding of logistics, sea freight, tax-exempt contracts, customs clearance and the legalities surrounding running a logistics operation overseas.
Minimum of five years’ experience of work in a logistics environment.
Thorough knowledge of logistics and supply chain processes is desirable.
Excellentmunication and management skills.
A good record of management skills, cost/budget control and report writing.
A full driving licence.
Have proven and successful experience as a senior manager/logistics manager for remote and extensive project-basedmercial operations involving high value and sensitive material.
Be an excellent and experienced team leader who believes in the value of people and who will encourage others around him.
Be astute,mercially aware with a working knowledge of business administration.
Be experienced at handling and optimising the effectiveness of a small team.
Be literate in the use of Microsoft Office, stores management systems, security systems and multiple forms ofmunications.
Preferably have experience in unsupportedmercial environments.
Be experienced in the management of costs within budget.
A fluent French speaker would be advantageous.What you'll get in return
This position offers a permanent contract alongside an annual salary of £50,000 - £60,000 DOE.
