Job summary We have an exciting opportunity to join our Therapies Team at the Walton Centre. We are looking for a keen and dynamic Therapy Assistant to join the Spinal Injury and Trauma Therapy Service. The post holder will assist the registered Physiotherapist and Occupational Therapist in the functioning of the SCI and Trauma therapy service and in their administrative duties including half a day a week assisting the Long Term Conditions Therapy Team in their Outpatient Clinic. You will be responsible for managing your own delegated clinical caseload as well as completing housekeeping tasks, undertaking treatments as required by the HCPC registered therapists and maintaining accurate records. The post holder will contribute to all aspects of the Spinal Injury and Trauma therapy team working in different settings including the acute ward, intensive care and outpatients (as part of Long Term Conditions). The post would suit individuals with care experience who are looking for a career within the NHS. Qualified therapists are unlikely to be suitable for a post, as the ideal candidate will be committed to developing the role and taking it forward. Main duties of the job This role will include the following duties: Supporting registered Therapists in providing treatment for patients with Spinal Cord and Traumatic Injuries To be able to carry out a Therapeutic programme with patients under the guidance and supervision of registered Therapists Applicants should: Work independently and as part of a team, managing time effectively Be able to motivate patients Demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills Establish a therapeutic relationship with patients under the direction of the registered therapists Establish a working knowledge of the MDT to assist in patient care.Report back to supervising staff regarding the individual needs/abilities of patients. Liaise with members of the MDT and external agencies to ensure the effective management of patients care Assist patients functionally with their mobility, transfers, wheelchair skills and functional activities under the direction of registered staff. Issue and maintain therapy equipment as directed.
