Tate has an exciting opportunity to join the Sculpture and Installation Art Conservation team as a conservator for the Palais de Danse, Barbara Hepworth’s former studio in St Ives, Cornwall.
You will provide support and expertise to manage and deliver the condition assessment, treatment, and documentation requirements for the Palais de Danse objects and materials that belonged to both Hepworth and her assistants including scrapers, files, rasps, prototypes and polishes, furniture and fittings.
You will be responsible for line managing the senior sculpture technician and will have experience of leading or working with small teams. Based in St Ives, you will work collaboratively with the sculpture conservation manager and the Tate St Ives team to meet the desired project aims.
As such you will have a broad range of experience with materials and be an excellent communicator, skilled at organising your time, enthusiastic and have an interest in contemporary art.
This role is based in Cornwall and not open to remote working.
This is a temporary post funded by The National Lottery Heritage Fund.
This position is offered on a fixed-term contract until April 2027.
