Responsibilities Ensure the provision of high-quality governance services to the business which enables it to meet the requirements for statutory and regulatory compliance Coordinate and facilitate board and committee meetings and other events, including the scheduling of meetings, drafting of agendas, production of meeting packs, preparation of timely accurate minutes, and the updating and monitoring of action trackers Engage with report writers and review submitted reports to ensure reports are of an appropriate standard in terms of format and content Maintain the forward plan for board and committee meetings Provide support and advice to board and committee members, senior managers and officers acting as the first point of contact for general governance enquires and relevant updates Develop and maintain governance systems and registers including the board meeting platform (Convene), statutory registers, policy framework, declarations of interest and gifts and hospitality registers Support with board and committee member recruitment and selection, induction, appraisal, and training and development Assist in the administration, compilation, and submission of returns to regulatory and statutory bodies and other agencies Coordinate and maintain the information published on the intranet and website Research and prepare briefing notes as and when required About you Have experience or a good knowledge of governance and/or company secretarial functions, preferably within the social housing sector or another regulated sector Can draft and present quality written material including agendas, minutes and reports in a complex business environment Possess excellent communication skills including the ability to engage with various stakeholders including Board and Senior Management Knowledge of risk management, audit processes, internal controls, policy and strategy development Have strong administration skills including the maintenance of formal records Have the ability to work effectively under pressure and can prioritise in order to meet competing deadlines Can maintain confidentiality and business sensitivities Have experience of using Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel, and Sharepoint Requirements Qualification in a business/administration discipline (desirable Chartered Institute of Housing or a Chartered Governance Institute qualification) or significant experience working in a similar role Experience of working in a regulated environment with Boards and Committees Experience of managing Board and Committee administration work (preparation of agendas and board papers) and minute taking Experience of undertaking research Benefits Starting salary of £31,870 which rises to £35,519 per year with service West Yorkshire Pension Fund membership - current employer contribution is 15.5% Excellent holiday allowance that increases with service Training, development, and qualification opportunities Corporate health scheme membership Access to an Employee Assistance Programme Cycle to work scheme Local gym membership discounts.
