About the role
Discover our fish processing division located in Timaru, central to mountains, lakes, and the sea. We process various fish species from our deep-water vessels and independent ACE fishers. Our facility operates three shifts daily to support day, night, and part-time operations, while our joint venture with San Won keeps the unloading of our vessels and storage facilities busy year-round. You will find a variety of our beautiful New Zealand seafood products in our retail shop located on site.
This role is located in Timaru. Reporting into the Nightshift Supervisor, the Nightshift Team Leader will lead a team responsible for receiving and preparing fish for processing, ensuring the highest hygiene standards and operational efficiency across the processing factory and chiller areas.
Responsibilities:
* Place health and safety, quality, and sustainability at the forefront by leading a team through example and ensuring these are prioritised in every task and decision.
* Provide staff training on using computer applications for inventory management, production reporting, and supply chain tasks, while helping staff develop their skills and behaviours.
* Train new staff according to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Standard Task Sheets (STSs), providing guidance to their role.
* Oversee the correct setup of machinery in line with the production plan, report faults, and coordinate repairs to minimise production disruptions.
* Monitor productivity, give positive and constructive feedback, and address inappropriate behaviour, escalating to Supervisor or Manager if required.
* Ensure all equipment and areas meet Sanford hygiene standards and monitor staff compliance with policies and procedures.
* Lead and support initiatives that enhance safety, productivity, and overall operational performance.
About you:
You're an experienced team leader with a background in food processing or industrial environments. With a strong focus on safety and quality, you lead by example and know how to drive productivity while maintaining the highest standards. You're proactive, adaptable, and skilled at fostering team engagement and development.
What we're looking for:
* Experience in industrial cleaning and forklift driving is essential.
* Experience in a food manufacturing environment is preferred.
* Previous team leader experience is required or experience in a similar role.
* Knowledge of food processing systems and specifications is preferred.
