We are looking to recruit a highly motivated, forward-thinking, committed and enthusiastic Nursing Associate with excellent communication skills to join our Tissue Viability Team. You will be pivotal in helping us to develop this new and exciting role within our team and act as a role model to current and future trainee nursing associates.
You should have excellent clinical, written and verbal communication skills and have completed the Trainee Nursing Associates course, gaining NMC registration.

Main duties of the job
The nursing associate role has a breadth of knowledge across the lifespan of patients and across the fields of nursing; providing holistic and person-centred care and support for people of all ages and in a variety of settings. The nursing associate works independently under the leadership of registered nurses who work within the sphere of nursing and care.
Nursing associates are equipped with the knowledge, understanding, skills, attitudes, and behaviours relevant to employment as a nursing associate and will work to a nationally recognised code of conduct.
Job responsibilities
Main Duties and Responsibilities
1. Provide and monitor care in the community setting:
2. Provide compassionate, safe and effective care and support to people in a range of care settings.
3. Monitor the condition and health needs of people within their care on a continual basis in partnership with people, families, and carers.
4. Contribute to ongoing assessment recognising when it is necessary to refer to others for reassessment.
5. Communicate effectively with colleagues, providing clear verbal, digital or written information and instructions when sharing information, delegating or handing over responsibility for care.
6. Recognise and report any situations, behaviours or errors that could result in poor care outcomes.
7. Undertake lower limb re-assessments and wound management using the appropriate documentation following the full training and assessment of own competence levels by a regulated professional.
8. Record and analyse clinical tasks using existing clinical knowledge and experience.
9. Plan alongside senior health professionals in planning clinics and visits, prioritising according to agreed protocols and seeking advice when required.
10. Participate in co-coordinating patient visits and planning reviews accordingly.
Person Specification
Qualifications and Training
* NMC Registered Nursing Associate
* Educated to a minimum level 5 Foundation degree level specific to nursing associate practice
* GCSE Grade A-C English and Maths or Level 2 in Maths and English
* Completion of End Point Assessment for applicants who have undertaken an apprenticeship route
* Care Certificate or willingness to train
* Related health and social care qualification (Level 3)
Experience
* Experience of working in a team as a registered nursing associate
* Experience of patient-centred care
* Experience of health coaching and promoting independent living
* Previous experience of working within the community setting
* Evidence of involvement in support / development of less experienced staff
* Experience in community or hospital-based healthcare.
Knowledge and Skills
* Ability to communicate with members of the public and health and social care providers
* Ability to deal with a non-routine and unpredictable workload and individual patient contact
* Ability to manage own workload
* Ability to take part in reflective practice and clinical supervision activities
* Understanding of basic physiology, e.g. normal vital signs, nutritional requirements, referral processes etc.
* Ability to work on own initiative
* Standard keyboard skills and ability to communicate through IT using packages such as Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint.
* Report writing skills (referrals, Datix).
* Ability to work flexibly as part of a team.
* Time Management and prioritisation Skills and Willingness to learn appropriate clinical competencies.
* Understanding of evidence-based practice.
* Competent with Systmone and willingness to learn appropriate clinical competencies.
