Main duties of the job
As an IP Paramedic, you will independently assess patients in their homes, manage acute and long-term health conditions, and provide holistic care while collaborating with GPs and other healthcare professionals. 1. Conduct patient assessments, observations, and clinical reviews in the community or care homes.
2. Devise care plans and provide health education, empowering patients to manage their conditions.
3. Support the multidisciplinary team by contributing to safe, effective, and evidence-based care.
4. Maintain accurate clinical records and participate in audits.
5. Refer patients to secondary care where necessary, with GP support as required.
6. Utilise advanced clinical skills, including prescribing, to provide comprehensive care.
Person Specification
Qualifications
1. Registered Paramedic HCPC (minimum 5-year post-registration)
2. Current and valid certification
3. Evidence of continuing Professional Development
4. Any applicants must have an IP qualification
5. BSc in a training programme approved by the College of Paramedics
6. Evidence of verification against Paramedic First Contact Practitioner Roadmap to Practice (minimum of stage 1)
7. Advanced Clinical Practitioner qualification
Experience
1. Extensive experience working in the NHS
2. Advanced clinical practice skills and clinical examination skills
3. Management of patients with common acute medical conditions
4. Experience of working with patients across a range of settings
5. Experience of preventative medicine
6. Experience of trauma-informed care
7. Experience of mental health
8. Experience of wound care
9. Experience of working within General Practice
10. Experience of working to achieve standards within the Quality and Outcome Framework (QOF)
Knowledge and Skills
1. Knowledge of the role of Primary Care in the wider system and the potential role of federations within this.
2. Knowledge of current national and local agendas particularly the Long Term Plan.
3. Knowledge of corporate, clinical, and information governance and systems for managing particularly clinical governance.
4. Management of patients with long-term conditions
