RATE OF PAY: $96,213.56 to $116,948.75 Annually
DUTIES:
Reporting to the Windsor Public Library CEO or designate, the successful applicant will be responsible for the effective overall management of branch staff and resources for the Windsor Public Library system. Responsibilities include directing and managing employees, scheduling, staff allocations, staff evaluation, staffing needs, outreach, special projects, programming requirements, and labour relations matters of library services. The candidate will conduct training for staff on new and existing programs, evaluate and identify trends within library services, and develop strategies for library services and programs. The role includes creating an implementation plan for changes in service, programs, policies, and procedures as necessary, modeling excellent customer service practices, building community partnerships, and maintaining relations with the public and fellow employees. Responsibilities also include investigating and resolving customer complaints, authorization of expenditures, and providing formal input into budgetary requirements for staffing needs and branch hours. The candidate will perform Occupational Health and Safety duties as outlined in the Corporate Health and Safety Program and other related duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
* Must have a Master's degree in Library Science and Information Studies or Ontario Ministry of Education equivalency and a minimum of two (2) years supervisory/managerial experience in a library environment inclusive of collection development experience, evaluation and acquisition of electronic resources and materials.
* Must have the ability to travel to off-site locations in a timely manner. If traveling by vehicle, a current valid Driver’s license is required in accordance with the Highway Traffic Act, and a driver’s abstract must be provided as a condition of employment.
* Must have effective time management and organizational skills.
* Must have project management skills and experience.
* Must possess excellent communication and leadership skills.
* Must have the ability to work in a team environment and be flexible in accepting assignments and changes in tasks.
* Must have demonstrated decision-making ability along with competency in problem solving and analysis.
* Should have knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and its regulations.
* Will be required to complete and remain current as per the requirements of the Corporation’s Management Certificate Program.
* Progression through the Art of Supervision Program Certificate or a similar supervisory program is considered an asset.
* May be required to lift up to 27 lbs.
