As a Bar Manager at Bowl Central, you will receive dedicated training and development from the Business Manager, equipping you with the skills and experience needed to progress towards a Business Manager position within 12 months.
Following our successful launches in Bournemouth and Fareham, we are bringing Bowl Central to Reading in June 2025. We are looking for an experienced Bar Manager to join our team and play a key role in launching and running this new venue.
Bowl Central is a boutique entertainment venue, featuring:
* Pins – A premium cocktail bar & lounge with seven boutique bowling lanes, AR Darts, and pool tables, catering to corporate events and private functions.
* Prizes – A cashless family entertainment centre with redemption and skill-based arcade machines, offering fun for all ages.
As Bar Manager, you will oversee the bar operations while supporting the overall management of the venue. This is a Deputy Manager-level position, where you will work closely with the General Manager to drive business performance, lead the team, and maintain the highest standards of customer service.
The Role
The Bar Manager will oversee all aspects of the bar and drinks service while ensuring the smooth running of the entire venue alongside the General Manager and Assistant Managers.
To ensure the best start in the role, you must be available for up to two weeks of training at our Fareham site before the Reading opening (transport/accommodation provided).
Key Responsibilities
Customer Service & Guest Experience
* Oversee and manage all areas of Bowl Central to exceed customer expectations.
* Lead the team in greeting and engaging with customers upon arrival.
* Ensure all food and drink products served are of the highest standard and within date.
* Address customer complaints promptly and effectively.
Team Management & Leadership
* Support the recruitment, induction, and training of the new Reading team.
* Support the organising and duty manage shifts, ensuring smooth operations.
* Train, develop, and conduct regular performance reviews with team members.
* Foster a positive, inclusive, and team-driven work environment.
* Ensure adherence to company uniform and presentation standards.
* Provide leadership support outside of shift hours when necessary (except during annual leave).
Operational Excellence
* Maintain efficient stock control and replenishment.
* Ensure food safety, hygiene, and health & safety regulations are met.
* Prepare weekly reports on sales, margins, and KPIs.
* Ensure high standards of cleanliness and risk management.
* Ensure high standards securing a 5-star hygiene rating from EHO from the outset.
* Monitor arcade machine performance and report any issues.
* Ensure licensing, health & safety, and HR regulations are strictly followed.
Marketing & Finance
* Oversee and enforce correct till and card machine procedures.
* Drive business performance to meet and exceed targets.
* Ensure stock security, rotation, and hygiene.
* Report directly to the Business Manager on operational and financial matters.

Pay: £30,000.00-£33,000.00 per year
