Position: Freelance Structural Design Engineer
Location: Hybrid working from Glasgow office
Duration: Initial 6 months - with extension review made at month 5
Rate: £30-40ph
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Freelance Structural Design Engineer with expertise in Tekla Structural Designer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience working on buildings projects and be able to deliver high-quality structural designs using advanced software tools.
Key Responsibilities:
* Design and model structural systems for buildings projects using Tekla Structural Designer.
* Perform structural analysis and design of buildings, including steel, concrete, timber, and masonry elements.
* Produce detailed design calculations, drawings, and reports for building structures.
* Collaborate with architects, contractors, and other engineering disciplines to ensure integration of designs.
* Ensure compliance with relevant building codes, regulations, and safety standards.
* Review and assess structural design solutions for feasibility, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.
* Provide technical support and guidance throughout the project lifecycle, from concept through to construction.
Skills and Experience:
* Proven experience as a Structural Design Engineer, with a focus on buildings projects.
* Proficiency in Tekla Structural Designer for structural analysis and design.
* Strong knowledge of building materials (steel, concrete, timber, masonry)
* Experience with structural detailing and the preparation of design documentation.
* Ability to interpret architectural and engineering drawings to produce accurate structural designs.
* Excellent problem-solving skills and a strong attention to detail.
* Ability to manage multiple projects and deliver high-quality results on time.
* A degree in Structural Engineering or a related field (or equivalent experience).
Desirable:
* Experience with other design software such as AutoCAD, Revit, or BIM tools.
* Experience working on a range of building types, including commercial, residential, and public buildings.
