Business Insight at Northern was created in 2021 to build smarter and more efficient data processes and generate better insight to inform strategic decisions that enhance both the customer and colleague experience. We are looking to recruit a Business Insight Analyst who will be utilising analytical tools such as Snowflake, Alteryx and Tableau to build robust and efficient data processes and generate value adding insight for functions across Northern. As the Business Insight Analyst your responsibility will be to produce insightful data analysis and reporting and showcase key trends in a way that can be easily understood across the business. You will use technical expertise to translate complex data into clear and actionable recommendations to improve our service delivery, ultimately driving customer satisfaction. You will be reporting to the Business Insight Project Manager and support them in identifying opportunities to improve data processes and scoping data projects. You will also support the wider Business Insight team to respond to technical queries from teams across the business. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams and participate in industry forums, conferences and committees to showcase data products and communicate insight. Key responsibilities: This is a varied and challenging role, but here is a taste of what your day-to-day activities could include: Working with functions across Northern to identify value adding projects that will enhance our business insight and help inform decision making Building Tableau dashboards to visualise data analysis and insight effectively and improve data accessibility across the business Using technical skills and tools such as Alteryx to improve end-to end data processes which will create efficiencies in the business and deliver benefits such cost-saving and revenue generation Sharing analysis and insight with key stakeholders across the business to help drive action and intervention to improve business KPIs Supporting Tableau and Alteryx users across the business to build analytical skills and drive best practice Engaging with a variety of stakeholders to understand needs, scope data projects, update on project progress and communicate insight About you: You will be enthusiastic about exploring new technologies and continually learning to help BI at Northern to continue leading in analytical techniques. With a passion for building relationships with a wide variety of people from varying levels. We’re also looking for the following: Educated to degree level (or equivalent experience) Proven experience of using analytical tools (incl. Snowflake, Alteryx and Tableau or equivalent) to deliver value adding projects/insight Able to produce accurate and reliable insight and communicate insight to non-technical audiences Enthusiastic about improving and streamlining processes to create efficiencies and deliver business benefits Likely to have worked previously within a market insight, business insight or customer insight analyst role. Within Rail or another industry.
