About the Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Street Lighting Engineer as we are currently seeking a highly motivated and skilled individual to join our Structures & Street Lighting Team at Leicestershire County Council, to be responsible for the efficient planning and project management of street lighting works to achieve delivery within time and cost targets.
As an Engineer you’ll be responsible for (but not limited to):
• Providing professional advice both to internal & external clients.
• Producing programmes, both in general terms, for overall work load purposes, but also in detail, to plan, monitor and control individual schemes
• Planning schemes and programmes to ensure optimum utilisation of labour, plant and materials (including contingent resource and specialist sub-contractors) in order to control costs and income and minimise waste.
• The production of detailed health and safety plans for individual schemes, along with method statements and safe working practices.
• Analysing technical results ascertained from site and administer a suitable solution to rectify the issue.
The nature of the work may involve you carrying out work outside of normal working hours and at different locations than your designated base. In addition you will be expected to undertake works on site in Leicestershire when required.
The ability to converse at ease with customers and provide advice in accurate spoken English is essential for the post.
About You
To apply for this post, you must hold or have:
* An HNC (or equivalent/ or working towards) in Electrical or Civil Engineering along with IOSH, NEBOSH or equivalent H&S qualification
OR Demonstratable experience in a street lighting setting.
* Experience of providing professional advice and support to managers or supervisors as required. Also helping to develop and present project reports to peer groups and managers.
* Significant experience of operational project or work programme management and reporting within the street lighting environment.
* Comprehensive & significant experience in the management of street lighting projects consisting of;
- Designing schemes using suitable software whilst working to lighting and electrical standards,
- Producing specifications,
- Contractual procedures
- Being responsible to run and oversee either capital or revenue funded schemes.
* Production of detailed health and safety plans for individual schemes, along with method statements and safe working practices.
* Experience of interpreting and writing both technical or non-technical reports then providing technical advice.
* Excellent communication and presentation skills including the ability to shape and influence to achieve successful outcomes to continue building on the credibility of the Council and its services. Have a methodical approach with attention to detail, strong organisational skills, planning and project management skills.
